For the first time since its conception, Pantone has created a brand-new colour as part of their Pantone Colour of the Year programme. Cue PANTONE 17-3938, otherwise known as Very Peri – an energetic blue hue with striking violet-red undertones.
By combining the calming qualities of universally-loved blue with red’s endless excitement, Very Peri successfully walks the line between familiarity and innovation. It promises to transform uninspiring interiors into hubs of imaginative expression while offering a comforting thread of continuity.
Design gurus looked towards the changing social landscape when gathering inspiration for Very Peri, describing it as “a symbol of the global zeitgeist of the moment and the transition we are going through” that represents the “expansive possibilities that lay before us”.
Indeed, there’s something about this spirited shade that feels refreshingly boundary breaking! Not only has it never been seen before, but Very Peri seamlessly fuses our virtual and physical realities by drawing from the blues and purples used by popular online gaming and social media platforms.
