Earlier this spring, we were contacted by Charlie from @overatcharlies. With over 10.3k loyal followers on Instagram and a number of brand collabs under her belt, we knew social media expert and interior design enthusiast Charlie was one to watch!
Having recently purchased a new build Taylor Wimpey home in Birmingham, Charlie has set about transforming the existing décor completely!
With a focus on neutral shades, cosy textures and natural wood grains, she initially purchased one of our large Florence console tables and a matching set of white lamp tables for her living room. Charlie then decided to continue the theme throughout her home…
To help her on her stunning new build renovation journey, we gifted Charlie a small console table for her hallway. Later, she also received one of our new pet beds for her pooches Harlow and Oscar – custom painted in Farrow & Ball’s Ammonite to match her walls.
We think the results look pretty awesome!

Why did you decide to start an Instagram page?
As if working full time at a social media agency isn’t enough, my hobby also revolves around Instagram! My channel is my creative escapism and I could happily spend hours scrolling looking for inspiration and fellow interior enthusiasts. I created my page to document the journey of turning this house into our home and the mission to add character!
When did you first come across furniture.co.uk?
I solo purchased my first home and didn’t have a clue where to start when it came to filling a home with furniture and making it look nice, so I turned to Instagram for inspiration. I made my first furniture.co.uk order after falling in love with @thehomethatmademe‘s console tables and I knew the piece would fit perfectly with my vision!
What sort of look are you trying to achieve?
I sold up and purchased my second new build home (where we find ourselves now) – plain white walls and a pretty characterless home. Of course, our console tables and side tables accompanied us on the move and became the centrepiece of our lounge!
It’s in this home I’ve really found my style – neutral, timeless interiors that create a bright, warm and cosy space to relax in and call home. We’ve designed and styled our lounge around our console tables (because we love them that much!) and even constructed a media wall to frame the console and free up the top for styling!
Do you have a top design tip you’d like to share?
My biggest top tip for adding style to a new build is to take your time, find your style and get to know the space and how you use it. Then start with your statement furniture pieces and work your way gradually from there. It’s a marathon, not a sprint!
