Decorative Antiques and Textiles Fair London

Here at we like to keep our ears to the ground when it comes to styles and trends. So, for us it is important to get out and about and see what is going on in the world of design. To this end we sent our Art Director, Judi Richardson, to the Decorative Antiques and Textiles fair in London.

Although it is an antique show and we are a new furniture retailer it is important to take the whole industry into account. After all our very popular Juliette range which Judi helped to design is based on an antique French style.

We asked Judi to give us a couple of her top trends from the show.

Shabby chic is very much alive. It seems to be the style that is never out of fashion.

We really love this colour combination of teal and gold It seems to really be a shade for this season. (keep your eyes peeled for more on this in the coming weeks.

Rustic room dividers. Screens are a great way to break up an open plan area into zones. This works equally well in large spaces as it does in a studio flat.  They are brilliant as they are not permanent and they create a real feature while also serving an important function.

Vintage style wallpapers. These papers seem to be heavily influenced by early hand painted Chinese papers. The advancement in technology and digital printing means these are no longer the sole preserve of the super-rich.

Antique foxed mirrors. This year seems to be about Wabi-Sabi aesthetic, embracing the beauty in imperfections. It’s ok to have imperfect items and in fact it can add real character and depth to your interior designs.
